GTA to commission Abetifi Stone Age Park during Paragliding Festival
The Ghana Tourism Authority will commission a new tourist attraction site at Kwahu Abetifi called the Abetifi Stone Age Park during this year’s Kwahu Easter Paragliding Festival in April.
The Abetifi Stone Age Park was discovered by the archaeological department of the University of Ghana after conducting a successful excavation at the site.
According to them, the cave has been in existence for more than twelve thousand years and with the help of a private investor 17 statues have been carved in the cave to depict life in the stone age.
The Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Ekow Sampson, who disclosed this to Citi News said the authority is always ready to partner private investors to develop all potential tourist sites in the country.
“As part of this year’s festival, we will also commission a new addition to the tourism industry, the new Abetifi Stone Age Park which has been developed by a private individual. I want to state that the Ghana Tourism Authority is ever ready and our doors are always open to individuals, groups and the private sector who are willing to invest in the country’s tourism sector, the opportunities in the sector is immeasurable and we are ready to support in all endeavours to make domestic tourism thrive in the country.”
